Position Summary Title: Family Physician – Successful applicants eligible for a 0.2 FTE medical lead. Contract: Service Agreement up to a 1.0 FTE – typically 1680 hours a year. Location: Abbotsford & Seabird Island hubs with spoke services in the Fraser South region (including on‑reserve services). The salary range is per the 2024‑25 Physician Master Agreement. Preliminary rate ranges are per the Alternative Payments Subsidiary (APSA) Agreement. Rural incentives may apply based on eligibility. Family Physicians are not required to contribute to overhead and typically a renewable contract will be negotiated. FNPCI Initiative The First Nations‑led Primary Care Initiative (FNPCI) aims to improve access to primary health‑care services for First Nations people across BC in a way that is culturally safe and closer to home. The FNPCI is part of the province’s primary care strategy, integrating team‑based care in communities throughout B.C. and changing the way primary care is delivered through primary care networks in partnership with Regional Health Authorities. Primary care must be culturally informed with Indigenous ways of knowing woven into services, enabling clients to feel safe, welcomed, valued, respected and heard. About The Centre The Fraser South First Nations Primary Care Centre (FS‑FNPCC) will provide primary care services to members of Matsqui, Sumas, Kwantlen, Chawathil, Shxw’ow’hamel, Yale, Spuzzum and Boothroyd First Nations and the diverse Indigenous population living in the South Fraser Region (Abbotsford, Langley, Hope and Canyon). The centre will operate through a number of spoke sites to provide holistic care for Indigenous people, including wraparound, team‑based primary care, mental health and traditional wellness services. Hours are Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays) during regular business hours, subject to operational needs. About The Role The Family Physician will be the most responsible provider for a patient panel but is expected to collaborate in team‑based care and support both Western and Traditional Wellness approaches. A minimum panel size of 650 per 1.0 FTE is expected by year 3, confirmed in the clinical service contract. The physician will travel on a pre‑arranged schedule to different sites to be available for appointments within the community, adhering to the First Nations value of services closer to home. Responsibilities Practice with cultural humility, providing primary care in a culturally safe, team‑based environment that recognizes the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the client and family. Deliver whole‑person care in compliance with BC health and wellness regulations and standards. About You Passionate about supporting First Nations individuals and families on their health and wellness journeys. Active practicing license in good standing with the College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC). Training in Cultural Safety & Humility or willingness to take this training. Ideally, experience working with First Nations people and communities and providing culturally safe care. Current valid driving license and willingness to travel throughout the Fraser Salish region. Anticipated Hire Date Fall 2025 Compensation and Incentives Clinical Service Contract with estimated remuneration per PMA plus eligible incentives. May be eligible for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement, including a retention premium up to 23.55%, relocation funding available $9,000–$12,000, and a recruitment incentive $varies.
