The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. Our Training and Compliance Delivery team is looking for a Compliance Analyst to join our team This is an opportunity to work with real time operations system controllers and managers, operations support personnel, and Reliability Standard Owners and Requirement Owners. You will support all aspects of the development and maintenance of our ongoing compliance to AESO‑applicable Alberta Reliability Standards and ISO Rules. You’ll be reviewing Alberta, North American Electricity Reliability Coordinator (NERC) and Western Electricity Coordinating Council WECC) standards, and drafting Reliability Standard Audit Worksheet s (RSAW) to ensure all aspects of standards implementation. You will monitor events and complete root‑case analysis, gather evidence, prepare reports and documentation, and provide audit support to contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Please note that this position is located in NW Calgary and is gezin not accessible by transit. Key accountabilities include: Provide compliance expertise during Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) development and implementation processes Collaborate with Standard Owners and Requirement Owners to draft and maintain Reliability Standard Audit Worksheet narratives with the related evidence Draft Internal Business Practices to demonstrate compliance with Alberta Reliability Standards prior to the standard effective date Participate in the review and analysis of new or revised Alberta Reliability Standards that apply to the AESO from an audit evidence perspective Determine ongoing evidence required for AESO compliance with each assigned requirement Gather, collect and analyze relevant data and evidence to demonstrate compliance Gather and review evidence for possible AESO compliance contraventions to ARS and ISO Rules Draft internal event analysis reports including root‑cause analysis and NERC cause coding Draft self‑report forms, mitigation plans, mitigation plan completion forms Annual self‑certification review of AESO compliance with ARS as per the Annual Implementation Plan Liaise with other departments during internal and external audits Provide business process support including data analysis and preparation of reports, and presentations Signs you will enjoy working in this role and team: < cottages> You have strength in analysis ; this is a skill that comes naturally to you You are detail oriented with a high degree traditional of organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines in a complex and demanding organization You have a desire and ability to take initiative, multi‑task, and work in a collaborative fast‑paced environment You have experience working with internal controls and risk analysis You embrace change and pivot and adapt with ease You are an enthusiastic self‑starter and comfortable taking initiative You are a creative thinker with an appetite for continuous learning You thrive working in a diverse atmosphere – our team and colleagues have varied backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, and you know how to bring the best out of each unique individual You have an aptitude for preparing defendable documentation and evidence for audit processes You enjoy contributing to the reliability of critical systems You find it rewarding to enhance controls and processes to influence great operational and business practices A combination of these skills and experience will support your success in this role: Bachelor’s degree in business , economics, engineering, or a related tertiary field Consistent attention to detail and a constructive questioning attitude Ability to investigate and solve complex problems Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organization and prioritization skills Proficiency with SharePoint records management, workflows, metadata, etc. is required Experience working with Microsoft Excel and Access for data management will be an asset Experience collaborating with colleagues throughout an audit cycle Skilled forming cross-functional teams and guiding diverse participants to complete interdependent tasks and projects You’ll stand out if you have: 3 or more years of experience working on compliance with Alberta Reliability Standards 3 or more years working in Alberta’s electricity industry Application deadline: January 28, 2026 #LI-Hybrid If you are contacted fora pre‑screening and/or interview, please bari of any accommodation measures required to enable you to fully participate.
