Cross Dock Lead (Western Canada)Job Title: Cross Dock Lead (Western Canada)Department: OperationsReports to: Operations ManagerLocation: On-Site Calgary OfficePosition Summary: As the Cross Dock Lead for Western Canada, you’re the action-oriented point person keeping freight and paperwork moving smoothly across our BC, Calgary, and Edmonton cross docks. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you blend remote oversight with regular travel to the docks, where you pitch in, solve problems on the floor, and keep teams accountable for timely, accurate shipments. Your main goal: no surprises and no headaches just efficient, organized dock operations that keep our freight, teams, system and paperwork on track.Key AccountabilitiesOwn Carrier And Dock Operations By:Building strong relationships onsite, especially with the CCS Calgary team, and monitoring service levels dailyTracking next‑day delivery readiness, resolving scheduling gaps, and making sure no shipments get stuckCoordinating third‑party labor (lumpers), following up on missing delivery info, and updating trackers with notes and exceptionsAuditing inventory weekly, acting when freight needs to be moved to OSD or rebookedMaking sure outbound pickups and skids get where they need to go, and that all PODs and documentation are quickly shared when requestedMonitor inbound linehaul arrival to crossdock and subsequent outbound delivery planning to final destinationRun Efficient TMS And Load Building By:Creating and updating return shipments, reshipments, and disposals in the system within set turnaround timesConfirming loads, removing old info, and making sure new shipment/BOL and PO data is correct for each stepManaging spot rate, and any wait‑status shipments with the help of operations supportKeep OSD Freight Under Control By:Making sure all OSD freight is tracked, labeled with the right PO and dates, and organized onsiteCoordinating returns, relabeling, disposal, and damage processes with vendors, partners, and the CCS dock teamMaintaining updated info in OSD shared drives and publishing weekly OSD snapshots for internal teamsChampion Communication And Team Engagement By:Acting as the main communication link between on‑the‑ground teams and regional managementKeeping documentation, systems, and logs up‑to‑date and accurate for all site visitsFostering a continuous‑improvement culture at each locationGathering feedback, and sharing wins and learnings with the broader teamKnowledge & Experience5+ years’ dock or warehouse leadership, preferably across multiple sitesStrong experience with OSD, return freight, and shipping documentationProven ability to coordinate, direct, and coach on‑site teams through hands‑on workComfortable with Excel, Google Sheets, and TMS/WMS; strong attention to detailValid driver’s license, able to travel regularly and adjust to workload demandsKey Behavioral ComponentsHighly hands‑on, lead‑by‑example approachOrganized, detail‑obsessed, and persistent when tracking freight or solving problemsProactive communicator – keeps everyone in the loopCalm when things go sideways and can quickly get ops back on trackTakes clear ownership for keeping cross docks running smoothlyPerformance IndicatorsOSD freight and paperwork accurately tracked and resolved on scheduleOn‑time, error‑free shipments and returnsPositive feedback from dock teams and managers about hands‑on supportClean, updated trackers and documentationEscalated issues get solved quickly, not stuck in limboSeniority levelMid‑Senior levelEmployment typeFull‑timeJob functionOtherIndustriesTransportation, Logistics, Supply Chain and StorageReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at The Logistics Alliance Inc. by 2xGet notified about new Lead jobs in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. #J-18808-Ljbffr
