Arcadis is looking for a Discipline Team Leader with a strong civil structural background to develop and grow our design team in East Canada. The role will lead and support road, rail, and port projects, including heavy civil structures, foundations, and bridges, in Nova Scotia, Alberta, and across Canada. Role accountabilities In this role you will develop and manage a small and growing team in Vancouver, producing, supervising, and managing the creation of engineering products on a wide variety of small to large projects in the road, ports, rail, and transit sectors. You will lead project teams to define the problem, establish the work scope, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction and oversight while also performing complex technical engineering tasks efficiently and accurately. You will mentor less experienced team members, prepare detailed engineering calculations and models, drawings, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, technical reports, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and detailed analyses. You will provide technical engineering services during construction, including review of contractor submissions, coordinate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines and departments, and build and maintain effective relationships with clients. You will lead successful project pursuits, including determining budget estimates and staffing requirements and writing winning proposals. The successful candidate will also perform project management duties, including assembling and managing project teams, controlling project budgets and schedules, quality control of deliverables, client interaction and management, and financial reporting. You will work to tight project schedules while ensuring quality of project deliverables, provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designers, Drafters, Designers, and less experienced Engineers, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. Qualifications & Experience 4‑year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized post‑secondary institution Minimum 10 years experience in civil structure design on small, medium, and large civil engineering projects, ideally in the roads, rail, and ports sectors including deep excavations, retaining walls, foundations, and bridges Strong communication, interpersonal, problem‑solving, and collaborative skills Ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineers Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in NS, and/or Ontario and Alberta Technical knowledge of civil structural and bridge engineering design and analysis principles Excellent technical report writing experience and skills We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best. The salary range for this position is $95,900 - $137,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position.
