We are expanding our presence in the U.S. and are seeking a Systems & Safety Engineer for our downtown Toronto office. Responsibilities Provide system safety assessment covering the entire technical spectrum of a complete railway project, including track civil infrastructure, mechanical & electrical engineering, railway systems, signaling systems, traction power, power supply, testing & commissioning, operations & maintenance, fire protection, and emergency concepts. Manage management processes such as quality management, risk management, safety and RAM engineering, interface management, verification & validation, change control & configuration management. Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, and other documentation relevant to the role. Help manage external resources, schedule and participate in periodic commissioning meetings, attend construction and coordination meetings if required. Interface with clients, contractors, vendors, and owners agents; execute project assignments. Organize and prioritize tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Produce and review reports, analyses, specifications, calculations, drawings, and plans as required. Hands‑on execution. Requirements Software / Systems / Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineer with a holistic, systemic view of the projects. Minimum 8-10 years of experience on large scale Rail/Metro projects with Civil, MEP and System background. Minimum 5 years of experience with Independent Safety Assessment (ISA). Holistic approach for the design and assessment of railway projects. Experience in Design Build Projects. Top‑down systems engineering approach covering the entire lifecycle. Experience in verification and validation management, change management, configuration management. Extensive knowledge of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Handbook for Safety & Security Certification. Extensive knowledge of the Common Safety Method (CSM). Experience with EN 50126 processes and requirements. Desirable experience in rail/transit operations and maintenance. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills. Excellent organizational, multitasking, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills. Familiarity with requirement management tools: DOORS NG, Comply Pro, etc. Advanced user of Microsoft Office 365.
