Senior Charge Nurse Neurosurgical Theatres Join to apply for the Senior Charge Nurse Neurosurgical Theatres role at NHS Ayrshire & Arran. Overview Shift pattern Monday to Friday with some weekend working. Effective 1 April 2026, full-time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours. Please have a live NMC pin for the post. The post will lead a 7 operating theatre complex that includes 2 OMFS Theatres and 5 Neurosurgery Theatres, together with patient reception and recovery rooms, providing acute emergency and elective neurosurgical care as part of the regional service to the West of Scotland. Responsibilities Lead the Neurosurgical Theatre Team. Manage and develop the performance of the team and contribute to the delivery of the organisation's objectives. Ensure safe and effective clinical practice and enhance the patient's experience of care. Apply infection prevention and control strategies to the theatre team, including hand hygiene and environmental audits. Promote teamwork within a multi‑professional environment, demonstrating critical analysis and decision‑making skills. Ensure visibility for patients and carers/relatives on a daily basis. Promote a clean, comfortable, caring and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors by ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and protocols including health and safety, healthcare associated infection, risk management and critical incident reporting. Demonstrate a commitment to patient‑centred care, quality improvement, continuing professional development and clinical expertise in peri‑operative care. Show flexibility and willingness to participate in service progression and growth. Lead and manage change within the Neurosurgical Theatre department and, where appropriate, the organisation. Qualifications Registered nurse with proven leadership skills. Live NMC pin required. Experience in spinal surgery is desirable. Peri‑operative Charge Nurse experience in the scrub practitioner role. Commitment to patient‑centred care, quality improvement, continuing professional development and clinical expertise in peri‑operative care.
