Endowed Research Chair in Watershed and/or Aquatic Sciences, Assistant or Associate Professor

Position Overview University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) invites applications for an Endowed Research Chair and a full‑time, tenure/tenure‑track faculty position (Assistant or Associate Professor level) in the Department of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. The position is expected to commence September 1, 2026. Research and Teaching Responsibilities The Chair will join a research team focused on land‑water system interactions. Responsibilities include: Delivering courses in the GEES Department (e.g., Earth’s Critical Zone, Fluvial and Watershed Geomorphology, Aquatic Sciences, Eco‑Hydrology, and Field Schools). Supervising Masters and Doctoral students in the Natural Resources and Environmental Studies (NRES) Graduate Program. Developing a field‑based research program that supports both research and teaching at Prince George and the Quesnel River Research Centre (QRRC). Co‑directing and co‑managing the QRRC, including research infrastructure and field operations. Publishing and securing funding to support research excellence and national/international recognition. Qualifications and Expectations Applicants should demonstrate: Potential for research excellence that leads to national and international recognition. Evidence of existing or potential outstanding research in aquatic/freshwater science. Passion and capability as a teacher and mentor. Experience or ability to supervise graduate students. Salary and Funding The annual salary range is $85,473 to $151,930, as per the UNBC Faculty Association Collective Agreement.
