THE OPPORTUNITY Principal Legislative Project Officer Position No : 224454 Level / Salary : Level 7, $139,860 - $149,485 (PSCSAA 2024) Work Type : Fixed Term - Full Time Branch : Legislation and Policy Unit Location : Perth Closing Date : 2026-01-13 4 : 00 PM THE ROLE The Principal Legislative Project Officer is integral to the creation and maintenance of legislative environments that enable police officers to effectively carry out their functions and keep communities safe. The role involves the development and preparation of legislative solutions and their progression through Departmental, Ministerial and Parliamentary processes. The officer will lead, manage and deliver on the development and progression of legislative reform throughout the Western Australia Police Force, supporting the agency’s and government’s priorities. HOW TO APPLY To demonstrate your talents, please provide a comprehensive CV and a covering letter of no more than 3 pages which describes how your skills and experience meet the following Work Related Requirements: Legislative Development and Amendment Process Experience – Ensuring the development of legislative reforms complies with parliamentary processes and incorporates the government reform process. Interpreting, applying and developing legislation, including instructing Parliamentary Counsel. Developing and preparing documentation for passage and implementation of draft legislation. Leadership and Management Skills – Leading, directing and developing the delivery of services and managing the resources of a project team. Project Management Skills – Applying project management concepts and processes in the management of legislative projects.
