Job Description Position Summary The incumbent maintains contracted assets (roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) through operation of heavy equipment, especially during seasonal needs such as snow plow operations. The role demands a strong sense of safety awareness, hazard recognition and the ability to adjust to avoid loss, injury or accident. PPE must be worn as required. We are seeking Snow Plow / Seasonal Equipment Operators for the seasonal time period of October to April. Competitive pay range: $30–$32 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Minimum DZ license required. Primary Duties And Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities And Key Deliverables For Winter Season – Remove snow and ice using snow removal and/or sanding equipment, salting and other seasonal maintenance on roads, bridges, etc. For Summer Season – Maintain and repair highway surfaces, including signs, guardrails, fences, lighting, potholes, striping, reflectors, litter and debris removal. As Required Traffic control setup and removal. Transport crew and equipment to work sites. Emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays. All other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Effective communication in English – oral and written. Basic mathematics. Compliance with all policies and procedures. Interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Adaptability to rapidly changing demands and priorities. Proficiency with hand and power tools, traffic control devices, mobile equipment such as tractors, graders, mowers, sweepers, augers, and other surface and right‑of‑way maintenance equipment. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. 1+ years related construction or road maintenance experience, and operating equipment with a DZ license. Certifications and License Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s license and acceptable driving record; AZ license a plus. Work Conditions Physical Demands Regular standing, sitting, walking, using hands for tool handling and reaching. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and use manual and powered equipment. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment. Work Environment Exposure to outdoor weather (heat, cold, wet, humid). High precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, insects, and occasional reptiles/rodents. Noise level usually moderate, occasionally more than moderate.
