Bateman Mackay LLP is currently recruiting a full-time Manager, Tax to join our Tax Team. This hybrid role will be based out of our Burlington or Mississauga office as well as includes weekly work from home days.As a Manager, Tax, you will hold a leadership position within the Firm, responsible for the day to day operation within the Tax department, fostering client relationships, and assisting with driving overall Firm success. This role is focused on the successful completion of client engagements (on time and on budget) and the development of your team members. leading by exampleProvide regular feedback to Team Members to support the ongoing growth and development of Team Members (both technical and personal growth)Maintain awareness of trends and developments in the accounting industry, sharing knowledge and insights with other members of the FirmCompliance and Client WorkReview of corporate, personal, and trust tax returnsReview of GST/HST and other indirect tax filingsReview of T1134/T106 and foreign affiliate reportingReview of and guidance for CRA audit queries and leading the resolution of tax disputesEnsure compliance with professional standards and firm policiesIdentify risk areas and provide strategies for mitigationProvide proactive tax planning strategies to minimize tax burdensAdvise on corporate reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, and cross-border transactionsSupport clients in succession and estate planning projectsEducationBachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting/Taxation or relevant subject, or College Diploma in AccountingCompletion of In-Depth Tax Course (required)CPA Designation (required)ExperienceMinimum of 5-7+ years experience working in public accounting, with a minimum of 3-4+ years experience in tax focused positionPrevious leadership experience in a public accounting Firm, mentoring Team Members to achieve goalsStrong technical knowledge and experience with complex accounting and compliance, including an in-depth understanding of Canadian and Ontario tax legislationProficient in MS Office, and accounting software (e.g. CaseWare, TaxPrep, CCH iFirm)Thorough knowledge and understanding of business concepts and government regulations, including HST/GST, EHT, WISB, payroll, and government assistance programsPrevious experience leading tax engagements including leading a team, ensuring projects are completed on time and on budgetExperience reviewing tax engagements (T1s, T2s, T3s, etc)Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholdersAbility to work under pressure, balancing multiple deadlines and clients while maintaining a high level of accuracy and organizationExperience developing solutions with clients and Team Members through collaborative effort and discussion including cross-selling opportunitiesStrong leadership and team management skills, including strong emotional intelligence and the ability to motivate and inspire othersCommitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learningDemonstrated high technical ability and quality of work, compliance with the Firm’s policies and procedures, and professional ethics and integrityDemonstrated financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and make data-driven decisionsSkills and QualificationsOther ConsiderationsCriminal Record and Judicial Matters Check is a requirement of this positionCredit Check is a requirement of this positionMust be legally qualified to work in CanadaValid Driver’s License and vehicle requiredBateman MacKay is an equal opportunity employer, and we accommodate any needs under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
