We think you’d look good in orangePOSITION SUMMARYThe Project Accountant supports the financial administration of construction projects by ensuring accurate job costing, timely processing of accounts payable and receivable, and compliance with contractual and lien requirements. Reporting to the Project Accounting Manager and working closely with Project Managers, this role maintains financial accuracy across project and ERP systems and provides reliable financial information to support project delivery.ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBLITIESSupport Project Managers and the Project Accounting Manager with the financial administration of construction projects, including contract and change order administration, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and compliance documentationCoordinate trade and supplier invoice approvals with Project Managers, including requesting vendor invoice revisions, coding, and posting in ERP/Project Management softwarePrepare vendor payment runs, coordinate payment releases, and manage vendor and trade communicationsReview and reconcile internal labor and equipment allocations to assigned projectsProcess trade contractor holdback releases in accordance with applicable lien legislationAssist in the preparation and issuance of client progress claims, including compiling, batching and organizing all trade contractor and supplier invoices as required by the Project ManagersTrack, monitor and report on key project financial metrics, including project start dates, progress billing, projected profitability and estimated completion datesEnsure financial accuracy and alignment between project management systems and ERPProvide day-to-day accounting support to project teams, including responding to enquiries related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost reporting, and project financialEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEPost‑secondary degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance or related field2+ years of related experience or trainingConstruction industry experience an assetStrong attention to detailsProfessional Accounting Designation such as: CPA, CA, CMA, CGA considered to be an assetCOMPENSATION & BENEFITSCompetitive wage and bonus opportunitiesRRSP matchingHealth & Dental benefit plansHealth & Wellness spending accountProfessional career development opportunitiesSocial activitiesThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by the position.
