Intermediate Mechanical Engineer – Power GenerationJoin WSP in Canada as an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer in the Power Generation sector, located anywhere across Canada with preference for Calgary, Moncton, Kitchener, and other major offices.OpportunityWSP supports clients across the energy value chain, from upstream to downstream oil and gas and emerging low‑carbon solutions. The Engineering and Resources industry (ERI) sector focuses on design, engineering and environmental services that drive climate adaptation, mitigate environmental impact, and transition clients to low‑carbon futures.ResponsibilitiesDesign mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities.Prepare mechanical equipment and packaged equipment specifications, data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations.Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings, interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers.Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems.Participate in the development of PFDs and P&IDs.Perform piping design activities including sizing, pressure drop calculations, stress analysis, and pipe support design.Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.QualificationsUniversity Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.5+ years of mechanical engineering design experience within an EPCM environment, ideally focused on industrial facilities.Currently licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng, Ing, PE) in the province of practice.Experience in the consulting environment and with power plant, renewable natural gas plant design is desired.Working knowledge of MicroStation or AutoCAD.Working knowledge of Smart Plant 3D or CADworx.Experience using Caesar II or AutoPipe, and Thermoflow.BenefitsCompetitive salary range (B.C.): $96,200–$132,200, with variation based on experience and location.Flexible work options, a collaborative culture, and employee‑focused benefits including virtual health care and a wellness platform.Clear career opportunities and a supportive, inclusive environment.About WSPWSP is one of the world’s leading professional services firms, with over 65,000 team members globally.
