The Dadzi Wellness Centre is a groundbreaking, standalone First Nations primary care facility located in Fort St. James, in north‑central British Columbia, serving the Dakelh members of the Nak’azdli Whut’en, Binche Whut’en, and Tl’azt’en Nations. Under direction of the Clinical Manager, this role will work in alignment with the Centre’s Governance model, which includes all Nations receiving services from the FNPCI, supporting each Primary Care Centre’s priorities and service model goals.Position DetailsTitle: Social WorkerSalary: $70,933 – $85,350 per year (pay range explained below)Contract: Term position ending 3/31/2027, with a possibility of an extension. When the term position ends with the FNHA, it is intended that this position will be offered as a permanent role with the Dadzi Wellness Centre Primary Care Clinic.Hours: Standard Hours – 37.5 hours per weekLocation: Dadzi Wellness Centre, Fort St. James, BC (Onsite)Bargaining Unit: PIPSC BCFNHA Group (Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada)About the RoleThe Social Worker works in a multi‑disciplinary setting and is a valuable partner to the Dakelh members of the Nak’azdli Whut’en, Binche Whut’en, and Tl’azt’en Nations. As a valued part of the Hub and Spoke based team, this position provides capacity building services for community while working effectively with other members of the team to provide support, guidance, and coordinative capacity all the while approaching the community work from an empowering and supportive practice perspective. The Social Worker practices from an Indigenous worldview that recognizes and respects the values, beliefs and customs of individuals, families and communities as well as adhering to best practices current to the field. This position focuses on the development and coordination of community‑based services as requested by the community and the partners engaged. The position also provides consultation to Nation‑based leadership, Health Leads, and partners regarding information and referral to external resources, navigation of relevant systems and partners as well as implementation of relevant internal resources (i.e., IH/FNHA Joint Crisis Response Protocol).About YouEducationBachelor’s Degree in Social Work, plus 5 to 7 years of recent, related experience in health care setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceAdvanced training in threat/risk assessment and/or trauma responseMaster’s Degree in Social Work is an assetOccupational CertificationCurrent registration with BC College of Social Worker as a Registered Social Worker (RSW)Current valid B.C. driver’s license and willing to submit a driver’s abstractExperience5 to 7 years of recent, related experience in health care settingKnowledgeKnowledge of various meeting and coordination modalitiesKnowledge of assessment and screening tools and modalities in determining suicide and violence risk and threatKnowledge of relevant socio‑historical events relevant to First Nations in CanadaKnowledge of the importance of critical reflection in practiceFamiliarity with traditional healing practices, customs, values and traditions of local First NationsCompetenciesCultural safety and agilityActively uses critical self‑reflection in practiceUnderstanding of rural and remote communities and their inherent challenges and barriersAdheres to a Nation‑based, community‑driven philosophyPractices from an individual/family/community perspectiveBalances western and traditional Indigenous worldviews in practiceAware of and applies professional ethics and approaches to resolve ethical dilemmasAbility to establish and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of allied professionals, formal and informal community leaders, and knowledge keepers and/or EldersPhysical ability to perform the duties of the positionBenefitsCompetitive salaryMunicipal Pension plan with an employer contribution of 9.31% after eligibility periodAccess to group health benefits and a Health Care Spending Account through Canada Life on day 1 of employmentEEO StatementThe First Nations Health Authority is committed to respecting diversity within our workforce; preference will be given to individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.
