5N Plus is a world leader in the production of specialty semiconductors and performance materials. We deploy proprietary and proven technologies to develop and manufacture advanced materials that are often core components of our customers’ products. Our primary end markets include terrestrial renewable energy, space solar power and imaging and sensing, under our Specialty Semiconductors segment, and for the health and pharmaceutical sector, as well as technical materials, under our Performance Materials segment.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of our commercial team, based in Montreal, the Sourcing Manager will have the responsibilities to :
- Track and negotiate sourcing contracts for the metals and/or suppliers under his/her direct responsibility to assure competitive and timely supply of key metals to the 5N + production teams
- Propose short and long-term sourcing strategies based on rigorous analysis of market and operational data (yields, costs, timing, location, etc)
- Market watch; Identify and report on existing and new sources for key metals in various grades, in order to timely secure an appropriate feed of metals in relevant forms (complex feeds, commercial grade, etc) at a competitive price and per volumes defined in collaboration with the operations, R&D and sales teams
- Identify and lead commercial activities with third parties who could support our strategies through tolling services.
- Track and sell through a competitive process the excess inventories of metals, by-products, residues or other concentrates from various 5N+ sites for which maximal benefits can be generated through sales/tolling through a third party
- Support other metal managers in similar activities for their respective metals or geographical areas to develop and execute an efficient global sourcing strategy
- Collaborate with EHS/Product Stewardship teams to ensure legal compliance of all activities, including shipping, processing and disposal of the materials or residues by 5N+ and/or third parties
- Identify and develop business opportunities to maximize the utilization of 5N+ assets by developing, with relevant functions of the organization, detailed commercial (costs, margins, payables, risk/volatility, etc) and technical (yields, residues, CAPEX, etc.) models allowing to assess each business case
- Represent 5N+ at relevant international conferences or other events to develop and maintain a network with relevant market stakeholders
- Report periodically on the active or developing contracts, inventory position, market dynamics, competition, and recent and upcoming transactions
- Prepare relevant budgets and forecast as needed
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- 10 years of experience in metal trading or purchasing with strong network in the industry (experience in the copper industry is an asset)
- Degree in science (metallurgy, chemistry, engineering or similar) and/or commerce (MBA an asset)
- Operational experience in processing of metals and concentrates (asset)
- Availability to travel worldwide (25-30%)
- Languages : English (mandatory), French (functionnal or to acquire). Assets: Mandarin and Spanish.
- Strong abilities in negociation and networking
