Lecturer / Senior Lecturer, Physical Geography (Oceanography) Location: UNSW Canberra, ADFA Campus, AustraliaEmployment type: Full‑time, 35 hours per weekDuration: ContinuingRemuneration: Level B from $127,947 or Level C from $155,403, plus leave loading and 17% super Job Description The Lecturer / Senior Lecturer is expected to conduct research in Physical Geography (Oceanography) across coastal to deep ocean systems. Areas of focus may include: the composition and motion of the water column; coastal processes such as tides, storm surges, and sea‑level rise; ice dynamics and cryosphere‑ocean interactions; and the use of geospatial tools—including remote sensing and GIS—to analyse environmental change. Research strengths may also encompass biophysical coupling, ocean‑atmosphere interactions, sediment transport in marine and estuarine environments, and modelling of ocean currents, waves, and human impacts such as land reclamation and coastal engineering. Responsibilities Conduct original research and publish in peer‑reviewed journals. Design and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Develop and assess curriculum incorporating educational technologies. Mentor and support students from diverse backgrounds. Collaborate with colleagues across the university. Qualifications and Experience A PhD in Physical Geography, Oceanography, or a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience. Proven commitment to keeping discipline knowledge up to date. Experience in teaching design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. Experience with educational technologies and online delivery methods. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence. Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds. High‑level communication skills and networking ability. Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
