Senior Systems Safety Engineer (Transportation Team) Join GFT to apply for the Senior Systems Safety Engineer role. This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Vancouver office, and offers the opportunity to engage with transformative transportation projects. Responsibilities Lead in the design, construction, operations, and maintenance of commuter, light, and heavy rail transit systems, delivering technical work to schedule and plan, achieving time, quality, and cost targets. Take on and lead a broad range of systems engineering activities and plan work packages using project management methods. Define RAMS plans for specific projects and transit agencies. Establish processes related to RAMS using industry best practices. Specify RAMS metrics, key performance indicators, and RAMS targets for electronic, electro‑mechanical, and train‑based systems. Serve as the trusted adviser in all matters related to RAMS for GFT’s clients. Perform System Hazard Analysis, Operating and Support Hazard Analysis, and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis on various systems. Execute the RAMS plan for green‑field and brown‑field developments. Support the continuous development of RAMS activities for ongoing projects. Provide technical consultancy on RAMS, integration, validation & verification, and other related system engineering activities. Apply best‑practice systems engineering techniques to support pursuit of work in the region. Extract technical and functional requirements from tender documents to create RAMS requirements. Follow company, safety, quality, environmental, commercial, and project management procedures relevant to tasks undertaken. Mentor, coach, and develop staff to assist them with achieving their full potential within the needs of GFT. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics. Registered Professional Engineer is an asset but not mandatory. Preferred Qualifications 15+ years of experience working in Safety applied to Rail Systems. Experience executing system safety activities in urban rail projects. Proven ability to work successfully in multi‑disciplinary teams and across different business units. Team player, able to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience in a project environment with good customer relationship and stakeholder management skills. Experience working with CENELEC EN 50126, 50129, and 50716. Experience working with CSA R114:22. Experience working with MIL-882. Compensation Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location. The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
