About the roleBMT is recruiting for a Principal Pipeline Engineer to join our experienced team to enhance the capacity and capability of the team.A Principal Pipeline Engineer at BMT will work as a senior member of the Infrastructure and Materials & Structures teams technical and management team and perform the following duties:Executing and directing technical projectsProviding guidance and mentoring to junior staffWrite, review and contribute to project reportsManage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneouslyBe a technical leader for pipeline and/or pressure vessels and piping design and integrity assessment considering pressure, geotechnical and thermal loadingHave experience and familiarity with relevant Canadian and US pipeline and energy sector standards and codes of practice to lead project teams in code compliance review and assessments.Support project and business managementIdentify opportunities for technology and staff improvementSupport recruitment of additional staffReview, discuss and refer business opportunities to appropriate business units within Infrastructure (i.e. Structural Integrity, Welding, Materials, Software & Instrumentation, Design & Construction)About YouWe are looking for enthusiastic and flexible team members, who possess the following knowledge, experience, and skills:Experience within the North American Energy Pipeline and/or Industrial Plant Service sectorOver 15 years of related engineering experienceProven engineering skills and a valid Professional Engineering licensePost-Graduate degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Civil Engineering is preferredIn depth knowledge of engineering applied to the energy sectorLeadership and management experienceExperience working in a consulting environmentProven track record leading client relationships and business promotion/salesA track record for the solution of energy sector (pipe and/or plant) engineering design and/or assessment tasksIn depth subject matter expertise related to several of design, fitness for service assessment (i.e. cracking, corrosion, weld fault, geohazard, hydrotechnical hazard assessment), materials, welding, forensic investigationIndustry recognition as a subject matter expert in energy sectorExpertise and industrial track record related to numerical modelling (e.g. finite element modelling, computational fluid dynamics)Preferred Experience / QualificationsExperience working with industry standards CSA Z662, API 579, API 1104, BS 7910, ASME BPVC, ASME B31 seriesClient facing experience and excellent presentation skillsProven ability working in a small fast-paced team environmentStrong technical report and proposal writing track recordExcellent verbal and written communication skillsCurrent capabilities working with numerical simulation (e.g., finite element modelling, computational fluid dynamics)Knowledge and experience developing integrity management plans (IMP)Knowledge of in line inspection tools, reporting and program developmentKnowledge related to reliability and risk assessmentAbout BMTWe exist to navigate the most important and impactful engineering challenges of our time.
