Principal DevOps Engineer

Location: Toronto/OttawaDepartment: EngineeringReports To: SVP of Product and Engineering About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team and take ownership of our infrastructure strategy, automation pipelines, and system reliability. As a technical leader, you’ll drive DevOps best practices, mentor team members, and collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and high‑performing systems. Key Responsibilities: Architect, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments Design and evolve AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation Deploy and maintain critical applications on cloud‑native microservices architecture Familiar with migration and tech stack upgrades in AWS Lead efforts to improve system observability, monitoring, and incident response Partner with development teams to ensure smooth deployments and high availability Implement security best practices, including secrets management, vulnerability scanning, and compliance enforcement Evaluate and introduce new tools and technologies to optimize performance, scalability, and automation Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior DevOps and SRE team members Define SLAs, SLOs, and KPIs for critical services and ensure reliability goals are met Qualifications: 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or related roles Strong experience AWS cloud platform - IAM, EC2, EKS, VPC, ELB, ALB, Autoscaling, Lambda Experience maintaining and deploying highly available, fault‑tolerant systems at scale Experience implementing CI/CD using tools like GitHub Actions Operational (e.g., HA/Backups) and NoSQL experience (e.g., DynamoDB, Redis) Proficiency in scripting or programming language in Python Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic Experience with Infrastructure as Code – IaC - using Terraform, Pulumi Experience with security practices, compliance standards (SOC2, ISO 27001, etc.) Excellent communication and leadership skills Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience What We Offer: Competitive salary and equity packages Equity/stock options Health, dental, and vision insurance Learning and development budget A collaborative, growth‑oriented engineering culture #J-18808-Ljbffr
