OverviewRoyal Columbian Hospital (RCH) and Eagle Ridge Hospital (ERH) are seeking full-time Emergency Physicians to join our physician group (Columbia Emergency Physicians Association).The successful applicants will have CCFP (EM) or FRCPC (EM) certification and will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. PALS or APLS certification within five years is also required for work within the region. ABEM certification is also eligible. Previous experience in a high-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department is preferable, as is work experience with trauma and pediatric populations. ATLS or other trauma-based certification (e.g. STRUC) is highly recommended.Responsibilities / OpportunitiesClinical practice between RCH and ERH; teaching residents and UBC medical students on shift; and opportunities in research, quality improvement, physician leadership, education, simulation, and geriatric emergency medicine. Our collegial group numbers approximately 70 physicians and offers flexible scheduling, maternity/paternity leave, vacation and senior-member plans, and sabbatical options.Facilities & TeachingRoyal Columbian Hospital is a tertiary provincial referral hospital located in New Westminster, BC. It is the Fraser Health site for the UBC FRCPC Emergency Medicine program, offering 24/7 emergency services with approximately 80,000 visits annually. It is the only level-1 accredited trauma center in Fraser Health and hosts the only cardiac catheterization/STEMI program in the region. The Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment is a multi-year project to increase capacity; in February the acute tower will open with a new state-of-the-art Emergency Department. The new ED will house 75 beds including a 4-bay resuscitation area, a satellite medical imaging area, and a dedicated ED procedure room. Eagle Ridge Hospital is a community hospital in Port Moody, BC with 24/7 Emergency services and over 50,000 visits annually, supported by robust hospitalist and internal medicine services, and a pediatric presentation fraction of about 15%.Education & TrainingBoth sites are University of British Columbia-affiliated teaching hospitals. As a physician at RCH/ERH, you will be expected to attain a faculty appointment in the Department of Emergency Medicine and teach residents and UBC medical students on shift.
