Senior Policy Analyst Department: Link Nova ScotiaLocation: Halifax, Nova ScotiaType of Employment: PermanentClosing Date: 09-Jan-26 About the Opportunity The Senior Policy Analyst provides policy leadership and expertise to multiple branches on major policy, regulatory, and legislative initiatives. This position leads complex policy projects, mentors analysts, and supports evidence-based decision-making for land use and transportation infrastructure. Primary Accountabilities Lead complex policy projects from start to finish, including legislative and regulatory initiatives. Conduct comprehensive research, analysis, measurement, and evaluation of policy issues to provide strategic advice to senior leadership. Develop and evaluate policy options and related background material. Prepare briefing notes, submissions to Executive Council, and correspondence for senior staff. Coordinate working groups, ensuring project deadlines are met and progress is communicated. Engage stakeholders across government, crown corporations, and community partners. Identify process improvements and deliver plans for change management initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a policy-related field plus 5+ years of progressive policy analysis and research experience. Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships and manage complex assignments. Strong writing skills with experience in report writing and briefing materials. Knowledge of the provincial legislative environment. Computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Additional Skills and Assets Knowledge of transportation policy and analysis. Experience with legislative projects and public policy development. Understanding of government structure, processes, and key stakeholders. Equivalency Equivalencies may be considered. A completed master’s degree with 3 years of related experience is acceptable.
