Electrical Engineer – Senior HVDC Engineer at BBA Consultants Type of position: Regular Your future role on our team Join BBA and leverage your extensive expertise to lead major HVDC and FACTS projects that shape the future of power transmission. Key Responsibilities Prepare technical specifications and tender documents for HVDC converters and FACTS devices Evaluate bids, perform design reviews and witness factory and onsite commissioning tests Conduct HVDC/FACTS studies and apply them to complex power systems Collaborate with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions Mentor junior engineers and represent BBA in technical committees and industry groups Support business development through proposal preparation and presentations Corporate Culture Fit Desire to motivate and train the next generation Strong commitment to health and safety Constantly seeking sustainable and agile solutions Caring mindset that puts people first Ability to look beyond established standards Rigorous and ethical Fascination for innovation Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in electrical engineering P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration At least 15 years of industry experience, including 10+ years in HVDC/FACTS Expertise in HVDC/FACTS design, equipment and testing Experience in serving as an Owner’s Engineer for HVDC/FACTS projects Experience preparing technical documents and proposals Strong communication and critical thinking skills Ability to travel within Canada, the USA and internationally for short-term assignments Project management knowledge (scoping, planning, estimating) Experience with power system simulation tools (PSCAD, PSSE, RTDS) Familiarity with electrical protection and control systems Knowledge of IEEE, NEC or IEC standards An Overview Of BBA’s Total Rewards Annual base salary Annual premium program for regular employees Time bank Onsite mobility premium Cellphone fee reimbursements Group insurance plan from the first day of employment, including disability insurance and a telemedicine program Retirement savings plan Annual vacation and sick leave Premium for employee referrals At BBA, You Get Many Benefits Participation in innovation projects Access to a leadership program A flexible schedule that combines office presence and working from home An inclusive culture that values diversity, respect and openness About BBA BBA is one of Canada’s leading private consulting engineering firms, with over 45 years of experience serving the energy and natural resources industry.
