Temporary External Posting 2025-06 (T25263161) District School Counsellor qathet School District invites applications from qualified teachers for a temporary (1.00 FTE) District School Counsellor position starting February 9, 2026. The District serves the educational needs of approximately 3000 students through elementary and secondary (Gr. 8-12) schools and other educational programs and employs approximately 400 staff. Located on the Sunshine Coast, combining the natural beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities associated with the Powell River lifestyle, and an exciting and fulfilling work environment, it is ideal for those pursuing a healthy balance both professionally and personally. Qualifications Completion of a Bachelor of Education Masters degree in School Counselling or Counselling Psychology Membership in or eligible to become a member of the BC Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service (TQS) Knowledge of diverse student needs and inclusive practices Ability to support the delivery of prevention and wellness programs Ability to support and collaborate with School-Based Teams Demonstrated skills and knowledge in counselling children and youth and consulting with school staff and parents Awareness of community-based programs and services for students and families in the District and community, including other counselling services Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills Salary The annual salary for teaching positions ranges from $61,415 to $109,520, with placement on the grid based on length of service, qualifications and FTE, in accordance with the collective agreement.
