ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE
Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance the Controller lead a te am of (3) and is responsible for managing all financial aspects of the organization, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. They ensure the accuracy of financial records, provide financial insights to support decision-making, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance department.
BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The Ideal candidate will hold Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration . CMA/ CGA/CA/CPA Professional Accounting Designation and m inimum of 5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including prior experience as a Controller or in a similar role. Ideal candidate will have Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis. The candidate will be proficient in financial software and systems (e.g., ERP systems). Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are a must Candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. The candidate will be Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
JOB DUTIES
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Present financial information to management and stakeholders.
- Internal Controls: Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:Collaborate with department heads to create annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and provide variance analysis.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas of concern. Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Audit Preparation: Coordinate and oversee external audits or internal financial reviews. Provide auditors with necessary documentation and explanations of financial activities.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the finance and accounting team members. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
- Financial Policies: Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- ERP and Financial Systems: Utilize and maintain accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to ensure accurate and efficient financial record-keeping.
- Risk Management: Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Assess the potential impact of economic, regulatory, and market changes on the organization's financial health.
