Position Summary:

Students  will identify what constitutes a mental disorder and understand the prevalence of various mental illnesses in Canada. Students will focus on legal issues related to mental health including NCRMD and fitness to stand trial procedures, provincial mental health legislation, risk assessment and management techniques, violence risk and victimization, dangerousness and stigma, and criminal justice policy.( Cross-listed  as  HS312  and  PD312 .)

Qualifications – Required: Master’s Degree

Qualifications - Other: MA in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a cognate discipline (e.g. sociology / psychology, MSW) with a focus on crime or deviance. Work experience in the field is an asset, as is prior teaching experience. (MEd / EdD will not be considered to meet the minimum educational requirement). PhD or ABD preferred.

This appointment is in accordance with the Contract Teaching Faculty and Part-time Librarians Collective Agreement , for which the Wilfrid Laurier Faculty Association (WLUFA) is the exclusive bargaining agent.
