MaKami team members are provided with many opportunities for professional career growth in a fulfilling and dynamic work environment.The MaKami team is passionate about creating generational change through education, and we provide the tools and a safe environment for our staff to change the lives of our students and their families.This position has primary responsibility for the development and delivery of individualized programs/strategies to students who require additional support to ensure they have the necessary tools to achieve academic success.ResponsibilitiesMeeting with students one-on-one to assess and identify areas in need of improvement in relation to academic successDevelop and deliver individualized learning plans for students with a broad range of disabilities based on each students’ unique needs and learning style (i.e. study strategies, organizational strategies, time management, coping skills and other areas of need)Work in collaboration with Tutors, Instructors, and other staff as appropriate, providing training and support when needed for students with specific learning differencesSupport and enhance each students personal and academic successServe as a resource to the College on matters related to learning strategies for students with learning differencesAssist with special events and other services offered through the departmentAssist with additional tasks and special projects as assigned to support the operation of the departmentEducation And ExperienceUniversity degree in Education, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or related qualificationMinimum two years in a secondary or post-secondary educational setting working directly with students in the planning and provision of educational supports to students with special needsProven experience providing learning strategies to students within a diverse populationProven ability to provide solution-focused interventionsSkills And CompetenciesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSuperior organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills requiredAbility to demonstrate flexibility within the decision-making processAbility to remain objective in decision-making when presented with emotionally charged situations and at times limited informationFlexibility and ability to change within strict time constraints and meet deadlinesHigh attention to detailStrong time management skillsPerks & BenefitsHealth Spending & Lifestyle AccountsEducational Allowance for Professional DevelopmentEmergency Allowance for Unexpected NeedsFree Massages at Our Student ClinicDiscounts on College Programs & CoursesStaff Discount in College StoreOn-Site Gym AccessFree ParkingQualified candidates should reply to this ad with their cover letter and resume.
