Pay range is $74,000 to $80,000. Overview We are currently recruiting for a dynamic and talented General Manager with exceptional people skills to join our team. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee the operations of our Dining Commons at SFU. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the operation, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, and leading a team of dedicated staff. This position reports to the Resident District Manager and has a team of Managers (non-union) and unionized associates. The General Manager must be prepared to work weekdays and sometimes evenings and weekends. Now, if you were to come on board as one of our General Manager (Food Services), we’d ask you to do the following for us: Responsibilities Manage client relations Ensure customer satisfaction Manage staff Menu planning Ensure compliance with strict quality assurance, health & safety and environmental programs Think you have what it takes to be one of our General Manager? Here’s how we’ll know you’ll be successful in the role: Qualifications Post‑secondary education with at least 5 years of foodservice or related management experience in an equivalent, high-volume retail food service environment. Experience managing a large team of associates and managers is a must. Advanced Food Service Training (AFST) plus Level 1 and 2 Health and Safety Certification training (or willing to complete within 90 days of hire). Proven financial management skills, including ability to control product and labour costs and analyze information. Experience working with high volume operations with multiple food concepts. Proven experience as a General Manager or similar role in the food service industry. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent client relationship and communication skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. Knowledge of any POS System is an asset.
