We are currently looking for a Middleware Messaging Engineer (IBM MQ / RabbitMQ) to join one of our major financial clients in Montreal. Context and Role Objectives As part of the global IT Services & Middleware Platforms group, this role is responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of enterprise messaging solutions that underpin business‑critical applications. The objective is to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable message delivery across distributed systems in a highly regulated financial environment. The Middleware team delivers shared messaging services used across multiple business lines and development teams. This includes implementing new platforms, supporting production environments, resolving incidents, and contributing to automation and modernization initiatives. The Messaging Engineer in Montreal will collaborate with counterparts in the United States and Europe, and will contribute to both local deployments and global service operations, ensuring alignment with group standards, best practices, and security policies. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ and/or RabbitMQ environments. Deploy and support enterprise applications using messaging platforms, ensuring proper configuration and performance. Provide Level 2 / Level 3 support to development and operations teams on messaging‑related topics. Track, analyze, and resolve incidents; identify reoccurring issues and implement long‑term solutions. Maintain clear and reusable documentation (procedures, configuration standards, support runbooks). Participate in, and potentially lead, projects to enhance messaging services and automated deployment processes. Work with business and IT stakeholders to design cost‑effective, scalable, and supportable solutions. Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and architectural improvements. Deliver assignments within agreed timelines and in compliance with internal standards. Ensure platform configurations adhere to security, compliance, and resiliency requirements. Profile Required Skills & Experience 2 to 5 years of hands‑on experience with IBM MQ (design, installation, upgrade, migration, configuration). Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities on middleware platforms. Experience with platform installation, configuration, and upgrade cycles. Solid analytical skills and a structured problem‑solving approach. Nice to Have Knowledge of microservices architectures. Experience in electronic trading or low‑latency environments. Familiarity with configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, etc.). Messaging system design and architecture experience. Exposure to Cloud environments. Experience with JIRA, Jenkins, Docker, Elasticsearch, AWS. Knowledge of REST API design and integration. Client‑focused mindset and strong service orientation. Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams. Detail‑oriented, organized, and committed to delivering high‑quality results. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
