This is a super exciting opportunity to be part of the only non-cancer Phase 1 CTU in Western Canada, helping people in BC gain access to cutting-edge, lifesaving medical therapiesPlease note that there will be the occasional shift on a weekend, as per study requirements. These will be planned well in advance, with days off in lieu provided.Reporting to the Research Operations Manager and receiving direction from the Research Coordinator(s), the Research Assistant provides operational and administrative support to the Principal Investigator(s) and other staff in the implementation and conduct of various research studies and related activities in accordance with applicable policies, standards, procedures, and protocols.Your duties will include:Participant Recruitment & Community Engagement: Support participant recruitment and retention by conducting outreach to local clinics, community organizations, and advocacy groups; engage confidently with potential participants in person, by phone, and through community events to promote study awareness and participation.Study Coordination & Data Management: Recruit, screen, enroll, and follow participants according to study protocols; schedule and document study visits; collect, extract, and accurately enter data into electronic data capture systems such as REDCap or sponsor-specific platforms.Regulatory & Protocol Compliance: Assist with the implementation of clinical trials in alignment with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, Division 5 regulations, and institutional policies; support preparation of ethics submissions, study documentation, and sponsor communications to ensure compliance and audit readiness.Operational & Clinical Support: Maintain organized study files and supplies, coordinate with investigators and research nurses to support study procedures, and assist with basic sample handling or other study‑related tasks as required within scope of training.What You BringEducation, Training and ExperienceCompletion of a recognized degree in a relevant field plus one (1) to two (2) years’ previous research experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Applicants with relevant health or social services‑related certifications will be considered.Must have completed GCP/TCPS2.0/ Div 5/ TDG training before interacting with any participants and must recertify every 2 years.Experience working with human research participants is a must.Experience working in both Industry and academic clinical research.Experience with primary data entry.Experience with REB/knowledge of Canadian regulatory requirements.Knowledge or experience with REDCap or other Electronic Data Capture Systems.Phlebotomy training.SOCRA, ACRP or equivalent certification.Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to interact and communicate with clarity, tact, and courtesy with participants all members of the research team, hospital staff, physicians, faculty, students, and others.Good organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills (verbal and written).Demonstrated analytical and planning skills.Demonstrated ability to use electronic health records systems (e.g., Cerner, Meditech, Plexia).Demonstrated ability to understand complex documents (e.g. clinical trials, SOPS, technical manuals).Demonstrated ability to handle competing demands with diplomacy and enthusiasm.Demonstrated adaptability to changing working situations and work assignments.Demonstrated ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly.Demonstrated computer literacy with Microsoft Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and database management skills.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.What We OfferCompetitive salary: $48,476- $63,624 CAD per year, depending on experienceGrowth opportunities: We welcome individuals at all stages of their career, offering opportunities for professional development and growth.State‑of‑the‑art facilities: The new St. Paul’s Hospital and health campus will be the most innovative approach to the delivery of integrated care in B.C. and Canada, designed to appropriately address the future health needs of patients, families, and our communities.
