Corporate Accountant

OverviewGreat Gulf is seeking a talented and experienced Corporate Accountant to join our team in Toronto. The Corporate Accountant, Build-to-Rent will perform a variety of accounting and analytical functions with a strong focus on financial and tax reporting for multiple US entities. This position works closely with other team members to provide timely and accurate management reporting and financial results. The ideal candidate for this role will have an accounting background with strong attention to detail and familiarity with various reporting standards.BUILD TO-RENT DIVISIONKey ResponsibilitiesMaintain accounting records for the entities in the Build-to-Rent divisionInternal and external quarterly financial reporting of Build-to-Rent’s consolidated resultsPreparation of annual financial statements under IFRS and ASPE with notes and supporting backup for the auditorsPerform project/investment property and financial statement analysis as requiredAnalyzing and recording transactions that are booked by journal entries, namely, capital calls, acquisition and loan closings, etc.Assistance in the preparation of cash call notices to partnersAssistance in the preparation of monthly bank drawsQuarterly and annual covenant reporting to the various banksLiaise with external tax consultants on corporate and partnership tax filings for a series of entities, primarily US compliance reportingAdditional reports and responsibilities as requiredCommunication / Influencing OthersThis position requires both written and verbal communication skills to communicate with internal (other departments) and external (investment partners, external auditors and vendors) stakeholders.Education and ExperienceCPA designation or in final stages of completion3+ years experience in accounting, financial reporting and analysisUnderstanding of accounting and reporting for the real estate industry an assetWorking knowledge of corporate and partnership taxationIntermediate/Advanced MS Office skills with experience in working with and manipulating large data setsExperience in MS Business Central or other accounting applicationExcellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracyStrong financial, analytical and problem solving skillsAchievement oriented; must be able to juggle multiple tasks, tight deadlines and changing prioritiesSelf-starter who takes initiativePhysical EnvironmentOffice environment – sitting/working at desk/computer in a shared office space and/or remote working from homeWorking hours during the day Monday to Friday and overtime as required to meet deadlinesWork under pressure in a fast-paced environment is critical to success in this rolePhysical RequirementsSitting at computer 90% of the timeSitting, standing, bending (for filing)Manual dexterity is needed to operate a keyboard and mouseGreat Gulf Group of Companies is committed to providing a fair and equitable work environment and encourages applications from qualified women, men, visible minorities, aboriginal peoples and persons with disabilities.
