Applied Research Chair, Resiliency and Child AdvocacyPosition Title: Applied Research Chair, Resiliency and Child AdvocacyPosition Summary: Red Deer Polytechnic seeks a passionate and innovative researcher to serve as the Resiliency and Child Advocacy Applied Research Chair, in partnership with the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre (CACAC).The focus of this role is on leading applied research initiatives that generate innovative, practical solutions for child advocacy prevention and intervention. The Chair will leverage expertise in research, child advocacy, social sciences, and data analysis to forge connections with external stakeholders, the CACAC, and academic partners to advance holistic, evidence-based approaches to trauma treatment and prevention for children and youth.The Chair will champion the integration of trauma-informed practices within all research and outreach activities, ensuring that the unique needs of children and youth are at the center of every initiative. The Chair will also enable data-driven decision making that supports the development, evaluation, and continual improvement of child advocacy prevention and intervention strategies.Position Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:Develop and lead interdisciplinary AR teams to create impactful, evidence-based solutions.Build and manage collaborations with industry, not-for-profit, community, post-secondary, and public sector partners.Advance integrated practices in the area of child and youth advocacy.Oversee AR projects delivering measurable regional benefits, which may include wellbeing, mental health, and other impacts on social innovation.Foster equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within AR environments.Supervise and mentor highly qualified personnel (HQP), including student research assistants.Drive outreach, knowledge mobilization, and engagement through industry events and external presentations.Manage program resources, including recruitment, infrastructure, and project execution.Drive the growth and impact of applied research in Child Advocacy and Resiliency, setting clear objectives for expanding RDP’s role in advancing social innovation outcomes.Lead the dissemination of research findings through academic publications, technical reports, presentations, and outreach activities, ensuring that knowledge is transferred effectively to industry, government, and community audiences.Lead writer of scientific manuscripts, industry reporting and presentation of research results at workshops and conferences.Required Qualifications:PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field of expertiseMinimum 10 years experience in similar roleExperience with planning, guiding, and supporting the work of othersExperience maintaining accurate records and preparing a variety of memos, letters, and technical reports and specifications that are clear and conciseProven experience in securing research funding and developing revenue-generating partnerships.A strong record of leadership in applied research, including managing multi-stakeholder projects and engaging with industry and community partners.Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and deliver successful research outcomes.Preferred Qualifications:Salary: $116,489 - $141,593Benefits and Compensation Information: Red Deer Polytechnic offers a comprehensive benefits package including extended health and dental care, access to a health spending account, pension plan, Employee & Family Assistance Program, generous vacation allotments, credit tuition waivers and opportunities for professional development funding.EEO Statement: Red Deer Polytechnic fosters an inclusive learning and working environment where everyone can bring their full selves and share their unique talents.
