As a Senior Medical Secretary you’ll be responsible for ensuring the continued provision of the highest quality of secretarial and administrative support. Duties will include providing full secretarial support to one of our consultants who specialises in Orthopaedic Surgery. You will manage patient appointments, liaise with patients and hospital staff as required to facilitate this, and undertake any other duties as called upon by the Practice Manager. What You’ll Do Provide full secretarial support to the Consultant (including audio‑typing of clinical/non‑clinical material, reports, etc.) Manage patient appointments and liaise with patients and hospital staff to facilitate service delivery. Receive new patient referrals and arrange relevant appointments across various hospital departments. Register new patients and ensure that all patient records are kept up to date. Respond to all written and verbal queries from patients and relatives, escalating to the consultants if required. Undertake any other duties as called upon by the Medical Secretary Manager, Deputy Medical Secretary Manager or Supervisor. Liaise with consultants and other secretaries to ensure the smooth running of the Out‑Patients Clinics. What You’ll Bring Substantial previous Medical Secretarial experience is essential. Significant understanding of Medical terminology. Experience working in a variety of specialties; Orthopaedics would be an advantage. Strong attention to detail, accurate typing and letter proofreading skills. Computer literacy. Excellent communication skills. Previous knowledge of DGL Practice Manager and Meditech preferred.
