The Commercial Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in expanding Rinnai’s commercial business segment. Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Sales, the role collaborates closely with Sales, Engineering, and Distribution teams to drive growth across applied and commercial product lines. The position is fully bilingual (English / French Canadian) and covers the Ottawa and Montreal regions. Manage a territory in Ottawa, Ontario. Travel up to 75% within the territory. Responsibilities Build and maintain long‑term relationships with end‑user accounts, mechanical contractors, engineers, and distribution partners. Leverage technical expertise to sell and promote Rinnai commercial water heating and hydronic systems. Execute regional commercial sales strategies and drive revenue in new construction and retrofit markets. Identify mechanical system and process improvements to cultivate market opportunities within various verticals. Lead and manage bid funnels and new client development through Salesforce CRM, ensuring optimization and meeting KPIs. Deliver technical assessments, make equipment recommendations, and facilitate project walk‑throughs. Interpret mechanical drawings and commercial specifications to support efficient system solutions. Collaborate with Engineering and Technical Services to resolve field product performance and quality issues. Manage distribution quotes and bid‑spec relationships for wholesale distribution. Educate and train contractors, engineers, and channel partners on Rinnai commercial products. Maintain effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders. Monitor field sales data, market trends, competitive intelligence, and product innovation. Align goals with Territory Sales Managers, Commercial Sales Managers, and cross‑functional teams. Ensure compliance with internal processes, expense reporting, and travel budget management. Commit to ongoing professional development via Rinnai’s Learning Management System. Requirements Knowledge Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Management, or related field; MBA or equivalent sales experience a plus. 7+ years of commercial sales, specification, and solution‑based selling experience. Strong technical knowledge of hydronics, plumbing, electrical systems, gas piping, and controls. Skill in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings and specifications. Demonstrated success in supporting complex projects with strong problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication, public speaking, and presentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred). Experience managing large commercial accounts such as municipalities and property management. Willingness to travel within the assigned region and residence in the territory. Skills Commercial and technical sales with strong close rates and consultative approach. Negotiation, influence, and relationship management across contractors, engineers, and end users. Effective project and time management in complex, cross‑functional environments. Technical understanding of hot water, hydronic, and HVAC systems. Proficiency in Salesforce CRM and Microsoft Office. Market awareness and industry insight. Collaborative team player supporting sales and customer success. Abilities Fully bilingual in English and French Canadian. Consultative selling, persuasive negotiation, and strategic influence. Manages commercial projects from specification to installation support. High problem‑solving and solutions‑oriented mindset. Effective collaboration across cross‑functional teams. Self‑motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Quick learner embracing new technologies and continuous development. Initiative, integrity, and a strong commitment to results. Develops key account business plans aligning with regional objectives. Willingness to travel up to 75% within assigned territory. Physical Requirements Remain in stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Occasionally adjust or move objects up to 2 lbs in all directions. Continuous communication with others to exchange information. Repeat motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers. Conduct tasks requiring accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness. Predominantly sedentary work involving sitting/standing. May require working untraditional hours, weekends, or holidays if business needs dictate.
