Opportunity Reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Advisor will be responsible to actively promote a health, safety, and environmental culture to all levels of employees with the policies and procedures of Aecon’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Manual. This role will support our Aecon Transportation West group. Responsibilities Conduct safety orientation to workers, owners, and clients. Train employees on Aecon Health, Safety and Environmental Manual and related safety programs. Conduct EHS assurance activities (e.g., workplace inspections, safety opportunities, and audits). Update Safety Data Sheets as required. Develop worksite safety plans (e.g., emergency plans, environmental or site safety plans). Distribute safety material, supplies, and equipment. Prepare and deliver safety presentations to clients. Analyze EHS data trends and recommend corrective actions. Assist with workers compensation claims and develop modified work plans. Lead or assist incident investigations and mediate health and safety issues for resolution. Liaise with government agencies as required and prepare external safety audits (COR). Coordinate environmental issues and gather and provide EHS-based statistics. Qualifications Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role. Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) and Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor preferred. Strong knowledge of Alberta/Saskatchewan OHS Regulations. Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional organizational and time management skills. Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract and ability to be on call for weekends and evenings for workplace incidents or emergencies.
