Senior Manager, HR Privacy Risk (Canada, USA, Caribbean) What is the opportunity? You will be overseeing RBC’s compliance with applicable data protection and privacy laws as well as RBC’s Enterprise Privacy Risk Management Policy as it relates to HR/Employee data. As Senior Manager, HR Privacy Risk, you will make a positive impact by focusing on HR Privacy Risk and Regulatory Compliance Risk in HR’s 1st Line of Defence. This is a full‑time role requiring a minimum of 4 days in the office per week, with the option to work one day from home. Job Responsibilities Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Global Privacy Program for Human Resources across Canada, the USA, and the Caribbean, ensuring compliance with applicable privacy laws, regulations and internal policies. Handle all individual (employee) rights requests in compliance with applicable data privacy laws and regulations, including review and redaction of relevant material in collaboration with key internal partners. Manage privacy & compliance regulatory requirements in Canada, the USA and the Caribbean, monitor, review, report on, and service Privacy Incidents and privacy‑related requests, and conduct privacy risk assessments. Respond to privacy complaints and queries from employees in a timely and accurate manner. Document and track privacy risks and recommend control activities, reporting the risk position through formal organizational risk management processes. Initiate and own risk mitigation methodologies to prudently manage HR‑privacy risk exposures, developing service partnerships with business stakeholders, Group Risk Management, and Compliance. Assist in the management of HR/Employee data incidents and breaches in line with privacy legislation and local policies. Develop and facilitate privacy training to improve employee awareness. Advocate for a culture of privacy within Human Resources, integrating RBI privacy principles and best practices. Communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and employees worldwide. Required Qualifications Strong privacy background, including a minimum of 5 years privacy experience. Technical knowledge of data protection laws, regulations and practices in Canada and experience applying them in practice. Strong analytical, qualitative and quantitative problem‑solving skills with attention to detail. Strong administrative, documentation, planning and organizational skills; proven ability to manage multiple high‑priority DSAR projects simultaneously. Self‑sufficient with the ability to work independently and as part of a team; experience with process mapping, documentation and continuous improvement initiatives. Aptitude for learning technical systems and applications (e.g., MS Excel, Word, Access, Outlook). Preferred Qualifications Technical knowledge of data protection laws, regulations and practices in the USA and the Caribbean and experience applying them in practice. Relevant privacy experience in Financial Services, delivering cross‑company and/or jurisdiction privacy programs/initiatives. Professional designation/privacy qualification (such as CIPP/C or Practitioner Certification). Experience delivering cross‑company and/or jurisdiction privacy programs/initiatives.
