Please note: this posting will be used to fill multiple positions.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Technician Supervisor, Automotive Sciences in the School of Transportation, the position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operations of lab/shop spaces. The position will also deliver technical lessons in the lab/shop environment independently, under the guidance of instructors, using rubrics and assessment tools provided by instructors to evaluate students.Maintain and calibrate lab/shop equipmentEnsure lab securityManufacture specialized items when requiredEnsure work area is safe and cleanLiaise with other sections or programs when requiredInventory And Budget ControlMaintain consumables and inventory of equipmentObtain quotes when ordering new equipmentCatalogue equipment manuals and technical literatureInstructional SupportIndependently, and/or team teach, deliver in-lab/shop technical activities/lessonsEvaluate students based on existing rubrics and assessment tools, provided by instructors, and provide feedbackSupervise students independentlyDemonstrate lab/shop equipmentPrepare, setup and dismantle lab/shop exercisesAssist or perform demonstrations of equipment under supervisionEnsure knowledge of related equipment, including use and applicationAssist instructional staff in ensuring safe and correct use of equipmentAssist instructors in developing new lab/shop exercisesStudent SupportProvide tutorial/remedial supportAssist students in developing and executing technical projects with other staffEnsure students work in a safe conditionOther duties as assignedSkills & AbilitiesStrong oral & written communicationStrong interpersonal skillsStrong time management & organizational skillsInitiative and ability to work independentlyKnowledge of computers and Microsoft OfficeAbility to lift 50 lbs unassistedAbility to work flexible hours and assignmentsQualificationsTrades certification and/or related technical diploma and completion of Red Seal5 - 8 years post-journeyperson completionClass 5 driver's license requiredForklift training an assetMan-lift training an assetFall Arrest training an assetEquivalent combination of education and experience will be consideredApplicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).Remuneration: $59,603.44 - $79,497.34 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
