Temporary Instructor, Automotive Service Technician Program (2953) Apply for the Temporary Instructor, Automotive Service Technician Program (2953) role at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). Please Note: This is a temporary position ending on or before June 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension. This posting will be used to fill multiple positions. NAIT’s Automotive Service Technician Program prepares students to diagnose problems, repair engines, use computer management systems, and adjust vehicles to operate for peak performance. The program supports students to work on cars, trucks, and other vehicles performing repairs, conducting preventative maintenance, and diagnosing faulty systems. Successful Candidate Have strong technical knowledge in Automotive Service Be able to work both independently and within a team environment Bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team Key Responsibilities Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records Provide early and ongoing coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success Respond to student issues Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT 2021+, NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities Other duties as assigned Skills & Abilities Excellent interpersonal skills Strong desire to help students succeed Excellent communication skills Knowledge of computers Qualifications High School Diploma Completion of Automotive Service Technician Alberta Journeyperson certificate or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal Minimum 8 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket Teaching experience an asset Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES). Remuneration Salary commensurate with education and experience, plus 18.5% in lieu of statutory holiday pay and vacation pay. Instructor salary grid $34.48 – $59.98 per hour. Starting salary for new hires averages between $41.77 – $45.41 per hour, normally based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).
