CUPE Job Title: Ot/Pt Assistant REPOST Status: Temporary Part Time (12 Months) Department: LG LTC PHYSIOTHERAPY Program: Long Term Care Schedule: xx Hour Shifts, xx Schedule (Subject to Change) Location: Lakeridge Health Ajax, ON - Long Term Care Wage Schedule: $34.250 - $36.160 per hour CUPE: 2500003518 POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Manager of Program Supports, the OT/PT Assistant will help plan, organize and deliver our comprehensive resident therapy program in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist at the future 320 bed long term care home being built on the Ajax-Pickering hospital site in the delivery of excellent care for residents. Scheduled to start accepting residents in early 2022, this new home is part of the government's plan to improve long-term care delivery and capacity in Ontario and in the Durham Region. This state-of-the-art long-term care home sets a new bar for seniors' care, with dining and outdoor space on every floor, a large courtyard, onsite diabetes care, specialized care units and other important innovative features. Just as Lakeridge Health is a beacon in the Durham community, the new long-term care home will be integral to managing and delivering on the needs and expectations of seniors in the Durham community and Ontario. OT/PT Assistant is responsible for: Developing and implementing client activation programs Carrying out individual therapeutic programs as per the direction of the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist Participating in care planning, evaluation and documentation Assisting clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) QUALIFICATIONS Completion of Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist Assistant diploma/certificate program is required Previous experience in a long term care environment is preferred Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with safe work practices Proven communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past 6 months Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
