As the Supervisor, Canadian Payroll, you’re responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll operations for Canadian employees, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with federal and provincial regulations, and continuous improvement of payroll processes. Day in the life of the Supervisor, Canadian Payroll includes: Payroll Operations Leadership Oversee and coordinate all aspects of Canadian payroll processing, including salary, hourly, unionized, and non-unionized groups. Review and approve payroll runs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Serve as the main point of contact for complex payroll inquiries and escalations. Lead post-payroll activities, including reconciliations, adjustments, and error corrections. Compliance & Controls Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial payroll legislation, collective agreements, and internal controls. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices. Design and monitor internal controls to mitigate risks and conduct periodic audits to assess effectiveness. Process Improvement & Technology Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and automation in payroll operations. Participate in the implementation and enhancement of payroll systems (e.g., SAP, UKG). Develop and maintain payroll process documentation, SOPs, and training materials. Reporting & Year-End Activities Prepare and review payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders. Oversee year-end activities, including T4 and benefits reconciliations. Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll information and documentation. For this role, you’ll come equipped with: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. PCP or CPM certification (NPI) or working toward these certifications. Proven track records of exceptional delivery in high volume, complex payroll environment. Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership, SME or supervisory roles. In-depth knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, collective agreements, and best practices. Experience with payroll systems (e.g., SAP, UKG) and advanced Excel skills. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced environment. High attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills. Experience with process mapping and business process improvement. Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion. Strong organizational and time management skills. The salary range for this position is: $79,450.00-$113,500.00 Please Note: The range provided is for base salary only.
