When the term position ends, the position will be offered as a permanent role with the Wilp D’Mootxw – Nec’a Yikh “The Healing House” Primary Care Centre.Hours7.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)LocationWilp D’Mootxw – Nec’a Yikh “The Healing House” Primary Care Centre, New Hazelton, BC, located on the ancestral territories of the Gitxsan and Wet’suwet’en Nations – OnsiteSalary$59,336 - $74,169 - $81,586 per year (pay range explained below)ResponsibilitiesAs Medical Office Assistant, you will be a key member of a collaborative, multidisciplinary primary care team that delivers trauma-informed, culturally safe care to support client health and wellness. You will provide essential administrative support to the daily operations of the Centre, coordinating staff and resources through the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in alignment with program workflows.Education And ExperienceGraduation from a Medical Office Assistant Certificate Program from an accredited Community College.3-5 years of experience in a medical practice with knowledge in EMR, encounter coding, data and administrative processes, human resource management principles and practices, and current scheduling practices, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge And AbilitiesStrong understanding of medical terminology—especially related to mental health and substance use—and familiarity with MSP billing practices and fee codes.Proficient in using technology and virtual platforms including EMRs, Microsoft Office Suite, and Zoom.Skilled in de-escalation, supportive communication, and maintaining confidentiality in patient care.Valid BC Driver’s License required.Experience working with First Nations communities or health service organizations is an asset.BenefitsMunicipal Pension plan with an employer contribution of 9.31% (after 6 months).3 weeks’ vacation, which increases with service to 4 weeks, plus 5 personal days, 1 volunteer day, and 14 public holidays including National Indigenous People’s Day, National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, Easter Monday and Boxing Day.Access to group health benefits and a Health Care Spending Account through Canada Life on day 1 of employment.And moreEEO StatementThe First Nations Health Authority is committed to respecting diversity within our workforce; preference will be given to individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.
