The role involves maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments for patients, staff, and visitors. Environmental Services staff follow strict cleaning and disinfecting protocols across patient rooms, treatment rooms, operating rooms, washrooms, offices, and corridors. The position requires safely handling, cleaning, and disposing of blood, body fluids, and hazardous waste while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.ResponsibilitiesClean and disinfect assigned areas, including patient rooms, treatment rooms, emergency rooms, operating rooms, washrooms, offices, and corridors.Execute blood and body fluid cleanup, wash walls, change privacy curtains using ladders or step stools, and perform routine floor care with mops, scrubbers, and buffers.Remove waste, including garbage, biomedical, and recycling, to designated holding areas.Operate industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance, thorough wash of ceilings and windows, and dispose of hazardous waste.Adhere to all cleaning protocols and safety procedures, wearing masks, gloves, gowns, and eye protection as required.Work independently with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment.Maintain a professional, approachable, and customer‑service focused demeanor toward patients, families, and staff.Shift & CompensationShift schedules may include days, evenings, and weekends. Hours per shift vary. Pay ranges from $20.06 to $21.93 per hour. Vehicle requirement: not applicable.Required QualificationsCompletion of Grade 10 or equivalent.Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements for the duration of a shift.Physically capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 30 lbs.Additional Required QualificationsProficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and following written and verbal instructions in English.Ability to climb ladders or step stools, squat, bend, and reach overhead.Strong hand strength for repetitive wiping, wringing, and gripping motions.Capability to independently push and pull up to 30 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs.Must wear personal protective equipment (e.g., surgical/N95 masks, eye protection) for extended periods; a clean‑shaven face is required for respirator fit testing.Dependable, cooperative, with a customer‑service attitude and ability to work with minimal supervision.Basic computer and smartphone knowledge.Preferred QualificationsCompletion of Grade 12 or equivalent.Knowledge of hospital housekeeping policy and procedures.Experience in cleaning and disinfecting in a health‑care environment.Customer‑service experience.Leadership experience (working lead, shift lead, trainer, or equivalent).All new employees will attend a 6‑day Environmental Services Orientation.
