Duties & Responsibilities Perform pre‑analytical, analytical, and post‑analytical functions in Haematology. Rotate workstations as required and perform other related duties as determined by the Operations Leader or Technical Specialist. Prioritize workload and ensure work, including STATS, is completed within the required time frame. Identify abnormalities in test results and take appropriate action; seek advice from appropriate resources if necessary. Report and document unexpected or non‑conforming events/incidents. Prepare, authorize, and interpret laboratory results. Respond to all inquiries regarding specimen collection, results, and interpretation. Perform routine and preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on laboratory instruments. Follow SOPs in the completion of all duties. Adhere to all elements of the quality program, including testing appropriate QC samples, performing QA activities, and assessing results. Participate in the development and maintenance of the quality management system by writing/updating SOPs. Liaise with internal and external customers. Adhere to the laboratory safety program. Participate in material management, inventory management, safety management, performance management, and quality assurance. Participate in the training of technologists, laboratory students, medical students, and residents. Participate in technical research and development activities and continuing education. Participate in test development and validation. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) holding a current CMLTO registration certificate with a Haematology discipline. Recent experience in a Haematology laboratory (within the last two years). Proficiency in computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office). Ability to work independently and prioritize workload in a fast‑paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to work cooperatively and constructively with other team members. Understanding and commitment to the Hospital mission and values. Punctuality and an excellent attendance record. Experience in quality principles, teaching, research/development systems is an asset. Hours Must be willing and able to work all shifts on days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays.
