About ViamoViamo is a leading for-profit social enterprise using mobile technology to connect underserved communities across emerging markets with life‑changing information and services. Since 2013, our platform has delivered health, agriculture, education, and civic content to over 3 million people annually, primarily via basic mobile phones and local language voice services. In the coming years, we aim to reach 100 million people with 1 billion monthly benefits by 2028.Independent Director & Chair, Board of DirectorsWe seek an independent board member to serve as Chair, bringing strategic vision, governance expertise, and deep understanding of platform business models in emerging markets. This leader will guide Viamo through our next phase of growth, support our executive team, and ensure our mission and values remain central as we scale.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and facilitate (or participate in, if not Chair) four board meetings annually, with additional committee and advisory engagements as neededFoster an environment of strategic challenge, CEO mentorship, and collaborative decision‑makingGuide Viamo's long‑term strategy on platform development, market growth, and impact measurementServe on at least one board committee (Audit, Compensation, or Impact) and support special initiativesLeverage networks to support executive recruitment and enterprise client developmentChampion diversity, equity, and inclusion at the board and organizational levelTerm2 years, renewableCompensationEquity optionsApplication DeadlineNovember 30, 2025 (applications reviewed on a rolling basis)Required ProfileCurrent Canadian resident (ideal)Prior board experience (governance, strategy, or committee leadership)Success as a senior executive in a high‑growth technology businessFirsthand knowledge of Viamo's operating markets (telcos in emerging markets)Deep understanding of platform business models in emerging marketsWe value a diversity of perspectives and encourage candidates from underrepresented backgrounds to apply, even if not every criterion is met.
