CLASSIFICATION: SOCIAL WORKER - MASTER'S DEPARTMENT: ALLIED HEALTH POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – HPD STATUS: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE JUNE 2027) REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT WAGE RATE: $44.67 - $57.90 Reporting to the Manager Interprofessional Practice, the Social Worker works collaboratively with the Interprofessional Team. The Social Worker conducts a bio‑psycho‑social assessment, applies social work theory and methods and develops care plans with the goal of maximizing social and emotional functioning, preventing problems and situations that reduce coping capacities and independence. The Social Worker addresses barriers to optimal recovery or adjustment and discharge from hospital as well as support in end‑of‑life situations. Current work assignment includes the Woman & Child Care Unit, Child & Adolescent Mental Health Unit and remote consultation support for the Markdale Hospital site. Qualifications / Skills / Abilities Required Successful completion of a Master of Social Work Degree. Current registration in good standing with the OCSWSSW. Ability to complete Obstetric prenatal SW assessments and birth planning support. Skills in the Treatment of Paediatric Eating Disorders including Family Based Therapy. DSM 5 knowledge as well as certificate in CBT and/or DBT treatment modalities. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Strong suicidal risk assessment skills and ability to create safety plans. Strong de‑escalation skills and ability to intervene in highly charged emotional situations. Ability to provide clinical leadership and direction to team of Child and Youth Workers. Perinatal grief and loss experience and demonstrated counselling ability to provide support. Knowledge of perinatal addictions and ability to provide supportive care and referrals. Knowledge of Paediatric chronic disease, newborn prematurity and how to support families. Understanding and knowledge of perinatal mood disorders. Adoption/Surrogacy experience and understanding of legislation that guides these practices. Strong Child Protection Knowledge including Duty to Report Obligation. Strong Knowledge of Community Resources and key community partners Ability to provide coverage support to all other acute care areas. Ability to triage high referral volume and a strong ability to prioritize work demands. Understanding of the Interprofessional Team Approach to Care. Strong organizational practices including timely documentation and daily workload entry. Excellent professional judgment, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills. Competence in the practice of evidence‑based counselling and supportive therapy Knowledge of Trillium Gift of Life, MAiD process and Power of Attorney Knowledge of rural health care challenges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Reliable and self‑directed working professional. Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record. Minimum 2-5 years of recent experience in a medical setting.
