Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.Reporting to the Manager Adult Mental Health Services, you will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy of patient and family centered care, mission vision, values and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.ResponsibilitiesProvide quality nursing care to patients including complex populations with unpredictable outcomes.Practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario and the Philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.QualificationsCurrent unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario.Current certification in BCLS.Recent knowledge in Acute Mental Health Nursing with experience caring for patients with addictions, mental status examinations, Trauma Informed Care and developing, leading and evaluating patient groups.Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery.Collaborates and provides consult to Registered Practice Nurse's when patients assigned to the RPN become unstable or have outcomes that are not as expected.Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action.Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions.Strong interprofessional and communication skills.Preferred QualificationsCertification or recent continuing education in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing.CPMHN(C) designation.Knowledge of current legislation, including the Mental Health Act.Salary Range: $40,240 to $57,680Eligibility & SafetyThe Health Sciences Centre strives to ensure the safety and security of the patients, visitors, employees and assets financial and otherwise.
