NOTE: This is a 0.7 nights position, 7 on, 7 off rotation. Reporting to the Senior Technologist and under the director of the Supervisor or Manager, this position is responsible for performing a variety of duties in Hematology. Performs, records and reports diagnostic procedures in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures to ensure a high quality, accurate and timely result. Identifies unusual or abnormal findings and alerts Senior Technologist/Hematopathologist. Performs and documents quality control and assurance programs. Operates, maintains, and performs troubleshooting on a variety of laboratory instruments to ensure optimal function. Assists with maintaining department supply inventory and re‑orders as required. May participate in the validation and assessment of procedures and equipment under the direction of the senior technologist, supervisor or manager. May participate in training and orientation of staff and students. Responds appropriately to non-conforming events and unusual situations and able to identify complex issues to the Senior Technologist. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills, high standards of customer service and meeting the needs of internal and external stakeholders. Maintains a professional image and positive attitude while promoting a respectful work environment at all times. Ability to build positive working relationships and work effectively in a team environment. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA). Additional Required Qualifications As required. Preferred Qualifications Recent (within the last 2 years) MLT experience in a dedicated Hematology department and experience in a fast paced acute care setting. Experience with site specific instrumentation: Sysmex, Caresphere, IL, Cellavision. Experience with Epic. Please note All postings close at 23:59 MT of the posting end date indicated.
