Your Opportunity This Physiotherapist II (PT II) position with the Prehabilitation Program is a hybrid clinical role offering services virtually and in person. Prehabilitation (Prehab) helps patients prepare their mind and body for surgery. The AHS Prehabilitation Program offers service options across four domains – Feeling Ready, Being Active, Eating Well, and Living Well. The prehab team provides universal, targeted, and personalized services for pre‑surgical patients across Alberta. As a PT II, you will develop and deliver interactive live webinars and group programming as well as 1:1 clinical assessment and intervention. Prehab content is developed across surgery types and patient functional needs. The PT II will focus on the ‘Being Active’ domain while working collaboratively across all Prehab domains to ensure evidence‑based, effective interventions. Description As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned, work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, and provide leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will make day‑to‑day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow‑up, advise team members on complex clinical cases, and provide clinical leadership to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and aligned with Alberta legislation, regulations, professional standards, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will coordinate day‑to‑day operations of an assigned service area, monitor care delivery, identify service needs, assist other medical staff with caseload management, complete chart audits, and provide follow‑up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning, represent the department on committees or programs, and make decisions on staffing level requirements and workflow priorities in collaboration with managers and other providers. AHS supports its Physiotherapists in their practice area and facilitates expansion of skillsets through provincial resources and a transition to the Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care). Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Additional Required Qualifications Minimum of 8 years of experience in rehabilitation practice, including community rehab, acute care, homecare or surgical service settings. Experience with prehabilitation. Extensive knowledge of patient population needs, health care continuum, and leading practices in collaborative, interdisciplinary rehabilitation. Extensive knowledge of pre‑ and post‑surgical care needs and practices. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated strengths in virtual physiotherapy service delivery. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop therapeutic relationships with individuals and groups, and navigate sensitive situations. Ability to create effective internal and external partnerships. Aptitude for performing in an environment of innovation, continuous change, and learning. Excellent clinical reasoning and decision‑making skills. Expert presentation and written acumen skills. Technical aptitude is essential. Expert technical and virtual service delivery skills. Initiative and ability to work independently within a remote team. Exceptional technical skills in managing computers and software, including Microsoft Office Suite and other e‑platforms and web‑based tools. Preferred Qualifications Experience working on a virtual team is preferred. MS Teams and Zoom skills.
