Responsibilities Actively participate in and drive Montrose’s strong safety culture. Act as a leader in the workplace using Montrose Standard Operating Safety and Technical Procedures. Hold overall accountability on a portfolio of moderately to highly complex legacy upstream oil and gas projects, including Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Risk Management Plans (RMP), Remedial Action Plans (RAP), Remediation (both in‑situ and ex‑situ), Reclamation, Post‑reclamation Monitoring, and Regulatory Closure Applications. Oversee internal project teams across disciplines to facilitate delivery of high‑quality products to meet client requirements. Lead communication with client program management teams and other stakeholders. Provide support to project managers on subcontractor and cost management. Conduct senior review and approval of all technical deliverables and scopes of work. Prepare and review technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports focused on regulatory submissions such as Record of Site Conditions, Comprehensive Site Reviews, Conceptual Site Models, Phase 1 ESA, Phase 2 ESA, RMP/RAP, Detailed Site Assessments, Remedial Summary Reports, and Remediation or Reclamation Certificate Applications. Participate in an innovative culture with support systems that empower professionals to provide high‑quality solutions. Transfer knowledge, share experiences, and mentor colleagues. Contribute as a senior member of the technical practice community that supports team and personal innovation, growth, and success. Qualifications Advanced degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field preferred. Minimum of fifteen (15) years of industry, government, and/or environmental consulting experience, with at least ten (10) years of direct environmental experience on upstream oil and gas projects. Experience driving scope, schedule, and budget for moderately complex projects in the oil and gas industry. Demonstrated experience preparing technical reports (ESAs, RMPs, RAPs, etc.), work plans, and cost estimates. Experience overseeing moderately complex projects, including review of reports and technical components such as conceptual site models, drilling plans, cross‑sections, and sampling program selection. Strong data evaluation skills and decision‑making based on findings. Self‑motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills and leadership abilities. Willingness to provide technical direction and mentorship to junior and intermediate professionals and project managers. Eligibility for registration or membership in good standing of a professional organization (e.g. AIA, ASET, APEGA). Experience with various in‑situ, ex‑situ, or thermal remediation technologies is an asset. Experience with the Alberta Energy Regulator’s OneStop tool and knowledge of provincial regulatory frameworks in Western Canada is an asset. Valid and clean Class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions. This is a permanent position with an annual salary range of $140,000 – $160,000, with starting pay based on skills, experience, and location.
