Speech Language Pathologist- Allied Health (BIR) – Scarborough Health Network Job Number: JR104538 Union: OPSEU | Minimum‑Maximum Hourly Rate: $44.67 – $57.91 | Hours: All Shifts Position OverviewReporting to the Manager of Allied Health, the Speech Language Pathologist provides speech, language and swallowing services to General Medicine, Stroke and Rehabilitation populations. Responsibilities Delivery of speech and language therapy to acute in‑patient adult/geriatric individuals and multicultural populations. Assessment and management of neurogenic speech/communication disorders and clinical swallowing disorders. Video fluoroscopic assessment and management of swallowing disorders. Education and training of staff, family, students and volunteers. Collaboration with interdisciplinary team members and SLP colleagues for coordinated service provision and professional activities. Participation in safety programs, Lean initiatives and other organizational quality improvement activities. Requirements Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Speech–Language Pathology. Registered with the College of Audiology and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Experience with acute in‑patient adult/geriatric individuals and multicultural backgrounds. Experience in assessment and management of neurogenic speech/communication disorders and clinical swallowing assessment. Experience in video fluoroscopic assessment and management of swallowing disorders. Strong organizational and prioritization skills, ability to work well in stressful situations. Excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation and teamwork skills. Ability to provide care aligned with the Patient and Family‑Centered Care Model. Ability to work cohesively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Experience educating and training staff, family, students and volunteers. Knowledge of relevant legislation (Health Care Consent Act, Substitute Decision Act, Public Hospital Act). Ability to collaborate with SLP colleagues for coordinated service provision and hospital‑wide professional activities. Independent work, sound judgment, and ability to perform essential duties. Demonstrated punctually attendance and customer‑service orientation. Commitment to safety programs and regular in‑service participation. Commitment to the organization’s Code of Conduct and healthy workplace environment. Use of protective equipment, hazard identification and reporting. Ethical conduct and respect for diversity.
