Title VP of Finance, Construction Salary Range $250,000 - $290,000 Cash Bonus Discretionary Long Term Incentive DPSP (company match up to $3,000) The Perks Extended Health Benefits Vehicle Allowance 6 weeks’ vacation CPA Dues Support Professional Development Support Location Mississauga, ON Office Permanently In-Office (with quarterly travel to BC) Team Size Team of 18 people across the country with 5 direct reports The Role A senior leadership position overseeing all financial operations, strategic planning, and team development for a growing multi‑provincial construction company with a clear path to CFO. Operational Oversight & Financial Management (60%) Oversee full financial cycle including AP, AR, payroll, job costing, and tax compliance Manage monthly bank covenant certifications and compliance requirements Lead annual audit process and coordinate with external accounting firm Monitor cash flow and work closely with executive team on capital expenditure decisions Maintain internal controls to ensure segregation of duties and prevent fraud Master Jonas ERP system to generate reports and provide insights to VPs and ownership Serve as backup to Controller for day‑to‑day financial operations Provide direct oversight of BC accounting operations and address performance issues Oversee purchasing department operations including change order approvals and execution Strategic Leadership & Special Projects (25%) Collaborate with senior leadership on financial matters and strategic direction Lead cost‑to‑complete forecasting and budgeting processes Drive improvements to purchasing department including analytics, software, and deal optimization Research and recommend consultants for corporate structure optimization initiatives Explore and develop future employee incentive and share program models Evaluate ERP systems for future scalability and enhanced analytics capabilities People Leadership & Team Development (15%) Manage Controller, Accounting Manager, BC Manager, and Purchasing Manager Mentor and develop high‑potential team members for future leadership roles Foster collaborative team culture focused on continuous improvement The Company A well‑established, privately‑owned specialty construction subcontractor with over 90 years of history and operations across multiple provinces. Expectations Timeline Preview By Month 1 Learn the Jonas ERP system and begin building proficiency with reporting capabilities Meet and establish relationships with all VPs, SVPs, and department leaders Understand current financial processes and reporting structures Begin supporting the accounting and purchasing teams By Month 3 Master Jonas system inside and out including all reporting functions Build trust and comfort with direct reports and broader team Independently manage the finance department day‑to‑day operations Demonstrate capability to maintain department operations without supervision By Month 6 Present recommendations for purchasing department improvements and analytics Begin research and meetings with consultants for corporate structure initiatives Drive improvements to BC office accounting operations Contribute to strategic planning discussions with senior leadership By Month 12 Demonstrate strong collaboration with President, SVPs, and CEO on company direction Show measurable progress on strategic initiatives with consultants engaged Lead audit process ahead of schedule with minimal team stress Position for potential CFO title as strategic projects advance The Skill Set CPA designation required Construction industry experience (or related fields such as infrastructure, home building, or engineering) Public accounting firm background preferred (senior manager level or above) ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONTACTED. #J-18808-Ljbffr
