Director of Finance (Contract to Permanent) Base pay range: CA$65.00/hr - CA$85.00/hr. Hybrid (must be able to travel to Downtown Toronto office 2 days per week). Our client, a specialized organization within the rights management sector, is recruiting for a Director of Finance. This is a contract-to-permanent opportunity, starting immediately on a temporary full-time basis, reporting to the Executive Director. Responsibility: Full financial lifecycle – from royalty collection and investment tracking to complex distribution calculations and statutory reporting. Key Responsibilities Royalty & Revenue Management: Oversee all duties relating to royalty collection and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accurate tracking of revenue streams. Complex Distributions: Calculate amounts for various distribution accounts for each royalty year, adjusting for interest, retransmitters, and audit outcomes. Investment Reporting: Manage investment activities, entering trades into GP (Great Plains), reconciling statements, and creating monthly investment reports. Financial Reporting & Audit: Prepare monthly financial reports, update budget-to-actuals, and lead the annual financial audit process including detailed documentation on receivables and investments. Tax & Compliance: Manage GST/HST monthly reporting, withholding tax reporting to the CRA, and annual filing of T5 and NR4 forms. Operational Accounting: Oversee Accounts Payable, banking reconciliations, and the full payroll function. About You 8–10+ years of experience in general accounting, reporting, and reconciliation. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience with business practices of cable and satellite providers is highly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is an asset. Action-oriented with strong integrity and the ability to handle highly confidential information. Excellent communication skills, capable of building cooperative relationships with staff, collectives, and vendors.
